ENNIS RANKS 169TH IN FORBES MAGAZINE'S "200 BEST SMALL COMPANIES"

Ennis is pleased to announce that it is listed in the October 28, 2002 issue of Forbes Magazine's "200 Best Small Companies". Ennis ranked 169th on the list that included publicly traded companies with $5 million to $600 million in sales in the last 12 months.
All companies included in this list must meet Forbes Magazine's stringent criterion which requires them to be profitable, earning a minimum of 5% net margin over the last 12 months, and have a five-year average return on equity of 5% or greater. Not only was it Ennis' first time to be chosen for the ranking, Ennis was the only wholesale printer to be recognized on this year's list. Ennis' earnings per share have grown 7% for a five-year average and increased 4% over the last 12 months. In addition, the company's sales have increased an average of 12% per year over the last five years. Ennis also ranked 105th for a five-year average ROE, 109th by sales, 141st by profits and 154th by market value. This achievement is in addition to being ranked #2 in Print Solutions Magazine's Top 100 Manufacturers and being ranked #3 in BFL&S Magazine's Top 100 Manufacturers.
